2012 Vineyard {511} Awarded Double Gold Medal
We are delighted to announce that Vineyard {511} Diamond Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon was just awarded a Double Gold Medal by the American Fine Wine Competition for our 2012 vintage. This invitation-only competition is held annually in Boca Raton, Florida.
2012 was considered a "magical season" in Napa Valley. Textbook conditions created an amazing growing and harvest season. Grapes were allowed to ripen during a lengthy stretch of warm days achieving a wine with excellent balance.
Here's what our winemaker Rob Lloyd had to say about the 2012 Vineyard {511}:
"The 2012 vintage was wonderfully even. Most days hovered around 85 degrees F, which gave our Cabernet grapes the ability to ripen slowly and evenly. The yield from this harvest was 1.8 tons per acre, as the hillside and ash soils made the vines work hard -but hard work pays off! We harvested the grapes later than normal on the 29th of October, with a Brix level of 23.2. As with past vintages of Vineyard {511}, the wine is smooth when drinking now, but will evolve gracefully for years to come."
Our 2012 vintage will be released on March 1 at a price of $140. You may order at our pre-release price of $125 (750 ml bottle) until midnight, February 29. The wine is in limited supply as only 120 cases were produced, and pre-orders have been significant.

A Wet Winter on Diamond Mountain
Our grapevines are getting a well-deserved rest following the 2015 growing season and harvest. Yields were down at Vineyard {511}, as they were throughout NapaValley. Precipitation for the year was 75% of normal. The relatively dry and warm winter resulted in small clusters of grapes with highly concentrated flavors. We expect our 2015 vintage to have deep, rich flavors of blackberries and cassis.
And now, after a five-year drought, this winter's rains are most welcome!
