Vineyard {511} Auction Lot Raises $2,500
Vineyard {511} is a proud member of the Napa Valley Vintners (NVV). Founded in 1944, the founding group consisted of just eight members: Fernande de Latour, of Beaulieu Vineyard; Felix Salmina, of Larkmead; Charles Forni, of the Napa Valley Co-op; Robert Mondavi, of CK Mondavi and Sons; John Daniel, Jr., of Inglenook; Louis M. Martini; and Louis Stralla. Today there are over 500 wineries which are members.
The mission of Napa Valley Vintners is to promote, protect and enhance the Napa Valley appellation. It does this through several signature programs and events including Auction Napa Valley, Premiere Napa Valley and Napa Valley Rocks. Among consumers, Auction Napa Valley may be the best known NVV event. Less known may be that, since its inception in 1981, NVV has given more than $145 million in Auction Napa Valley proceeds to Napa County nonprofits.  This year's Auction Napa Valley raised $15.8 million. Vineyard {511} contributed $2,500 through its eAuction lot consisting of a double vertical of its 2009, 2010, and 2011 viintages (750's and magnums.) Also included was lunch for two couples at Vineyard {511} with Ed and Irene, proprietors.
Summer is Sizzling on Diamond Mountain
Ninety degree weather has returned to Napa Valley. In spite of being in the fourth year of drought, those who grow grapes in Napa Valley say the grape vines are in pretty good shape. Vineyard {511} is no exception. Although verasion has not started, the vines and grapes are healthy. We are fortunate to be on a well to irrigate our vines. We are anticipating another record breaking or near recond harvest for 2015.
