Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
"This wine is estate-grown and from a single one-acre vineyard, entirely varietal and quite impressive. Soft, integrated tannins and oak are present but behaved, allowing for deeply satisfying layers of black olive, blackberry and bittersweet chocolate to evolve and intermingle on the palate. Big boned, this wine shows balance and complexity." -- 94 Points, Wine Enthusiast Magazine

Winemaker Notes
2012 as a vintage was wonderfully even. Most days hovered around 85F, and gave our Cabernet grapes the ability to ripen slowly and evenly. The yield from this harvest was 1.8 tons per acre, as the hillside and ash soils make the vines work hard (but hard work pays off). We harvested the grapes later than normal on the 29th of October, with a Brix level of 23.2. As with past vintages of Vineyard 511, the wine is smooth when drinking now, but will evolve gracefully for years to come.
