With only 500 acres of grape vines, the Diamond Mountain District is the smallest sub AVA within Napa Valley.  Its white ash, volcanic soil creates a distinct, identifying taste and feel to the mouth.  Although this 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon, harvested on October 12, 2018, is still aging in new French oak barrels, it promises to be a wine of distinction.  Winemaker Rob Lloyd, barrel tasting in December 2020, noted the following:  "Aromatics just jumping out of the glass, even at cold cellar temperatures.   This is a big, rich Cabernet with notes of chocolate, blackberry, and currants. The tannins give this wine the structure that you like to see in a young Cabernet, but it also retains a nice level of polish and harmony. At this stage in barrel, the depth and richness of this wine are really starting to emerge.”
